Renova treatment update

One month after completing the Renova linear shock wave therapy our first seven patients have been reviewed to determine the treatment’s success.

Approximately 70% of erection problems are caused by blockages of arteries to the penis; a result of smoking, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and physical inactivity. Addressing these issues is essential to prevent further blockages. In some cases a return to regular cardio exercise; for example, walking, jogging, swimming or cycling, and weight loss, can actually improve erections.

A diagnosis of cancer is devastating for everyone involved. What follows is a period of invasive treatments, anxiety and emotional and relationship turmoil.

How do you maintain sexual intimacy?

When are you too old for sex?

Not being able to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sex is extremely distressing, it can affect self-esteem and your relationship.

Some men get around the problem, for a while, by working excessively long hours or staying up late watching repeats on TV. Others seek a quick fix in the form of medications like Cialis, Levitra or Viagra.

Regardless of the treatment used to cure prostate cancer, whether it’s surgery or radiotherapy, a significant number of men find they lose the ability to attain erections after treatment. For some this impediment is temporary (6–36 months) and for others it is permanent.

The priority, of course, is removal of the cancer – with very good results these days –followed by a return of bladder control, also usually with good outcomes.
